Have you ever felt so anxious that you thought you were helpless, like you wouldn’t survive the moment?
Maybe it was before a big presentation, or in the middle of a crowded room. Maybe it crept in quietly, or struck like a lightning bolt.
Your heart races, your chest tightens and your thoughts spiral out of control.
Anxiety does that.
It hijacks your peace and convinces you that escape is impossible. But you are not powerless. You’re not alone!
At Campus Cares, we understand anxiety. We’ve seen how it creeps into everyday life, in moments of panic, in social pressure, in silent dread and constant overthinking.
But here’s the truth:
• Anxiety is your brain trying to protect you.
• Even when there’s no real danger, it sends an alarm.
• It tells you something’s wrong… even when you’re safe.
And while that signal can feel overwhelming, you can take back control.
A Gentle Way to Break the Spiral
We’re sharing a simple but powerful tool to help you challenge those anxious thoughts, the ones that feel too loud to ignore.
Here’s how to begin:
1. Write it down
What are you afraid will happen? Rate how strongly you believe the thought (0–100%).
2. Find another perspective
What else might be true? Write that down and rate how much you believe that possibility.
3. Try it out
Can you do something—big or small—to test the fear? You don’t have to prove anything. Just try.
4. Reflect
What actually happened? What did you learn? Rerate the original thought and see how your belief has shifted.
Every small moment of courage matters.
This isn’t just an exercise, it’s an act of strength. A step back toward peace, clarity, and self-trust.
It is also important to note that healing doesn’t come all at once but it begins with choosing to face, feel, and gently challenge what weighs you down.
So when the anxiety flares up, remember: you are not powerless; you are not alone; you can breathe, reset, and rise again.
